We’re part of the Made in Puerto Rico Association but maybe your thinking, what’s that?
The Made in Puerto Rico Association is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 with the purpose of protecting the main industries of the island which, at that time, were sugar cane, coffee and tobacco. In that moment the Association was called »Asociación Puerto Rico» which it translate to Puerto Rico Association. Later, in 1913, the Puerto Rico legislature passed Law #52, which established the Asociación Puerto Rico, later renamed Asociación Productos de Puerto Rico Inc (translation its Puerto Rico’s Product Association, whose official logo became the symbol of the mechanical wheel with the motto “Made in Puerto Rico ”.
Made in Puerto Rico defents local products and they periodically inspect that the product are made here in Puerto Rico.
That has been a little of history but now Im gonna talk from our perspective:
How’s been MPRA (Made in Puerto Rico Association) for us?
When I hear a tourist say: »Look, this it’s made here in Puerto Rico» or when I’m in a pop-up event and I say that we are members of the Made in Puerto Rico Association, the person draws a big smile on their face. It’s like asking a little kid if they want candy. From our perspective, has been a awesome experience and we are only 6 months old member. Having the chance to share with other businesses like Dulce Caña, a sugar brand, Holsum, a bread and snack brand, Mr. Special & Econo, local supermarkets and so much more it’s a memorable experience.
We have our uniforms with the official seal and the jacket too. When we received the acceptance letter, I was sooooo happy and I always say that it was our professional christmas present cause everything was occuring in christmas time in December.
This was the day when we received our uniforms with the official seal on the left sleeve. It was soo mesmerizing that I NEEDED to take a pic to the sleeve.
My recommendation for you…
If you want to consume a locally made product, that has local ingredients, that you can support the local employment and enjoy a local product, always look for this official seal. This is the only seal that you will see in EVERY. SINGLE. PRODUCT certified by them.
This is the oficial seal. Can say Made in Puerto Rico in english or spanish like this one, but always look for this seal. Make sure that its this design. Always look for the mechanical wheel. Any other logo, seal or art ISN’T the seal of the Association
You will be impress to see how many products are certified by the Association. And if you want to support the members of the Association, go to https://www.hechoen.pr/en (they make shipping to the US)
